About the share to buy facebook group

Facebook logo

In 2004 we set up share to buy as a radical new service offering friends a way to get on the property ladder. We introduced a special package comprising a mortgage for up to four applicants and a free legal agreement providing structure to the deal. Three years later and buying with friends is considered mainstream but there’s a new trend - co-buyers linking up on social networking websites. But until now you couldn’t link up with co-buyers on the biggest networking site of all: facebook. So we’ve launched a share to buy club on facebook that enables you to find other co-buyers, and it’s also a forum for finding info of relevance to first time buyers and sharing thoughts and expertise.

Our share to buy speed-dating event

Of course, it’s one thing to meet people online but if you are considering making a major joint commitment such as purchasing a property we think you should meet potential co-buyers in the flesh. That’s why everyone who signs up to our facebook group will be invited to our property speed-dating events. You can also register for these at sharetobuy.com. These will take the form of share to buy roadshows where you can meet other people to buy with, and also chat to experts from the share to buy team.

How it works

The share to buy group on facebook is no different to any other and it’s ultimately going to be up to the members how it develops. Ideally, people considering clubbing together with other co-buyers would post messages on the wall such as ‘I’m looking to buy in London’s zone 3… etc’. Click here to join the share to buy group on facebook (note: you will need to be registered with facebook to join and will be prompted for your log in details).

Mortgage Tools

  • Mortgage calculator – see how much you could borrow alone or as a couple, with friends, family or on a shared ownership mortgage. A basic estimate.
  • Mortgage illustration – you submit summary details for each applicant and a member of our team will reply with an estimate of your mortgage potential and provide an indication of likely repayments.
  • Agreement in principle – you provide detailed personal information and we respond with detailed illustrations for a choice of specific mortgage products currently available in the market. If you like one of the products, you can then request a non-binding decision from the lender confirming whether they would agree in principle to lend you that amount, subject to valuation and income verification. This can be very useful to prove to a vendor or housing association that you are able to purchase a property.
