England: Shared Equity is a scheme which enables buyers to purchase an approved new-build home with assistance from a housing provider in the form of an equity loan. You will pay this back over time, and the equity loan will be interest-free for a set period.

Scotland: New Supply Shared Equity (NSSE) is a Scottish Government scheme designed to help buyers purchase an approved new-build home. Buyers can purchase from 60-80% while the housing provider and Scottish Government retains an equity stake. There is no rent to pay or interest charged, and the equity stake is repaid when the property is sold or if the owner chooses to buy out the remaining share.
