Catalyst: Shared Ownership homes launching at AFC Wimbledon Stadium

Over 600 first time buyer homes coming to South West London

On November 3rd, South West London’s beloved AFC Wimbledon returned to SW17, to play its first match at their brand new stadium on Plough Lane, following 18 years away from their home turf.

The 9,000-seat stadium is part of a masterplan for the regeneration of the former Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium. The brand new ground forms the core of the ambitious new housing development by Catalyst and Galliard Homes, which will offer over 600 homes available for Shared Ownership and private sale.

Equidistant between Earlsfield and Wimbledon, the development champions the green space associated with these sought-after South West London neighbourhoods. Residents can enjoy garden views from private balconies and terraces, alongside mature planting reminiscent of nearby parkland such as Wimbledon Park, Garratt Park and Wandle Meadow Nature Park. The masterplan will also include retail and leisure space.

Markus Kendall-Young, Group Head of Sales and Marketing at Catalyst, comments, “The return of AFC Wimbledon to Plough Lane is a fantastic milestone for this development, and an exciting taste of what’s to come at this ambitious scheme. Local fans have been campaigning for years to return AFC Wimbledon to Plough Lane, and we are so glad to be a part of that journey, delivering homes alongside this landmark. It is essential that local first time buyers benefit from the substantial investment in the area, through offering home ownership opportunities that are within their financial reach. Our Shared Ownership apartments are designed with these buyers in mind, giving them the chance to buy their first home with lower savings and monthly income than purchasing on the open market.”

David Galman, Sales Director at Galliard Homes says: “It is fantastic to see football brought back to Wimbledon, it is an important part of local culture. The reimagination of this site into a new destination to live, work and for leisure is well underway and we look forward to our first residents moving in later this year. This development provides stylish homes in a sought-after location and we are delighted residents will soon be enjoying the lifestyle on offer, with the first football match a milestone in the sporting intensification of the site.”

As well as providing fantastic access to sporting facilities, residents have a vibrant food and culture scene on the doorstep. The multi-award winning Tooting Bec Food Market is a 20 minute walk away, with its wide variety of gourmet street food. Whilst minutes away is Wimbledon Art Studios, a bespoke studio complex, providing affordable art spaces for over 250 artists, makers and designers. Other Wimbledon highlights include over 120 shops, a large range of restaurants and bars, four theatres, and the world-famous All England Tennis Club.

Residents can enjoy fantastic transport connections across the capital, with Earlsfield station a 17 minute walk away, providing a direct train service into London Waterloo from 13 minutes. Closer by, Haydons Road station has a 28 minute service into Blackfriars, whilst for tube connections, both Wimbledon Park and Tooting Broadway can be reached in 20 minutes by foot.

The developers are currently marketing collections of 181 Shared Ownership homes and 114 private sale homes on site.

One to three bedroom Shared Ownership apartments and duplexes will launch this winter at The Switch by Catalyst. Prices start from £77,500 for a 25% share of a studio apartment (FMV: £310,000).

Joint venture partner Galliard Homes has launched private sale homes on site at Stadia Three, with the first residents moving in later this year. Pricing from £335,000 with Help to Buy.
