How does Shared Ownership work?

Saving up for a deposit can be challenging. With Moat’s Shared Ownership scheme, you purchase a share of a property (usually between 25% and 75%) and pay subsidised rent on the remainder.

You’ll only need a mortgage for your share price, not the full value of the home, so you can secure your dream home with a smaller mortgage deposit. The monthly mortgage payment, rent and service charge can also sometimes work out to be cheaper than privately renting.
