Help to Buy Success Stories: Harriet and Tim
Fairview New Homes: Newlyweds find their happy ending with Help to Buy at Maritime
Harriet Lowe and her husband Tim Hutton have taken their first steps onto the property ladder by purchasing a home at Fairview New Homes’ housing development in Greenwich with the London Help to Buy scheme.
The couple had been renting a flat in Greenwich for the last couple of years and were nearly faced with the decision to leave London altogether because of the ever-increasing rental costs, until they found Fairview New Homes’ Maritime development.
Harriet said, “We were renting, and it was draining all of our money. We even considered looking outside of London because it is so expensive here. On a whim we looked at the Maritime property and just fell in love with it.
“We were aware of the new builds in our area and had read reviews about Fairview online. Finding out that other buyers had such positive experiences, and the fact that the development looked so nice and was in a great location, drew us in.”
After being informed about the London Help to Buy scheme by the sales teams at Fairview, the pair realised that they were able to stretch their money further with the help of the Government-backed scheme.
“The support from the government in the Help to Buy scheme made buying our first home so much more doable, and it meant that we would not have to struggle to get onto the property ladder.”
Keen for their first home to be full of character, Harriet and Tim were surprised with what Maritime had to offer as a new build housing development.
“We had thought that new builds wouldn’t have much character or anything for us, but we went around the development and realised that it had so much of what we wanted, and we felt like we could really live there.”
They purchased a one bedroom apartment at Maritime and couldn’t be happier with their decision. Harriet said, “The sales process was fantastic, and we felt supported right the way through. We never felt pressured by the sales team, and I think that is really important for first time buyers.
“It was 28 days from when we first saw the show home to when we got the keys and walked through the doors to our home, and it really feels like a dream come true.”
Maritime is in Zone 2 and is located on Greenwich High Road, close to the River Thames and with Canary Wharf only 12 minutes away on the tube.
The development is a three minute walk to Deptford Bridge DLR Station and only seven minutes from Greenwich Station.
